Families host for a semester or school year, while students arrive with their own spending money and health insurance. ICES provides full support — from coordinators to cultural activities — ensuring a positive experience for everyone.
Host families must provide a safe, welcoming home environment, a private or shared bedroom, and meals for the student. All household members must pass background checks, and the family should be willing to support cultural exchange and include the student as part of daily family life.
Students usually stay for one semester or a full academic year. Throughout the program, ICES provides ongoing support, including a local coordinator, 24/7 emergency assistance, and regular check-ins to ensure a positive experience for both the student and the host family.
Students arrive with their own spending money and health insurance. Host families are responsible for providing room and meals, while ICES covers program-related support, guidance, and coordination. No additional financial costs are expected beyond normal household expenses.
Students are carefully screened and selected based on academic background, language proficiency, and personal interests. Matching is done thoughtfully to align the student’s profile with the host family’s lifestyle, preferences, and expectations, creating a strong foundation for a successful placement.
If challenges arise, the local coordinator will work closely with both the family and the student to address concerns and find solutions. In rare cases where the placement cannot be resolved, ICES will assist with arranging an alternative placement to ensure the well-being of everyone involved.
