Dear Host Family,

My name is Pablo, I am 16 years old, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce myself. I am currently applying for a scholarship that would allow me to study in the United States next year, an experience I look forward to with great excitement. I’ve always dreamed of living in a different country, learning about a new culture, and improving my English, and I believe this opportunity will be one I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

Since I was young, I’ve enjoyed being involved in various activities. Some of my favourite hobbies are playing tennis and soccer because I love sports and working as a team. I also enjoy spending time with my friends to have fun and take a break from daily responsibilities. In my free time, I really enjoy playing video games, watching movies, and reading, which allow me to both relax and learn. I also have a big interest in traveling, as each time I visit a new place, I love discovering its customs and traditions.

I think of myself as a friendly and easy-going person, which has helped me make friends quickly. My friends and family say I am someone they can rely on, as I always try to listen and support those around me whenever they need to talk about their worries. I also enjoy helping out at home, whether it’s with daily chores or simply being there when my family needs me. I consider myself responsible and careful when making decisions, as I like to think things through to ensure that my choices don’t negatively impact others. I am also a committed person who works hard to achieve my goals, no matter the challenges that may come up along the way.

The main reason I want to have this experience in the United States is that I believe it will help me grow as a person and broaden my perspective. I know that being away from my family and friends will be a challenge, but I am also sure it will be an opportunity to learn to be more independent and adapt to new situations. Additionally, I’m very excited to spend time with a new family , to get to know another way of life, and to share a bit of my own culture. I’d love to cook some recipes from my country for you if you’re curious so that we can learn together. I also did an exchange in France last year for three months, and I loved it so much, so I decided to apply to a longer one.

I want to thank you in advance for the kindness of opening your home to me and considering me as a part of your family. I am sure that, with your support, I’ll be able to make the most of this opportunity and learn valuable things that I’ll carry with me for a lifetime. I feel very fortunate to have the chance to meet such generous people, and I hope to make a positive contribution during the time I spend with you.
