At ICES, we believe that no coordinator should ever feel alone in their work. That’s why we provide complete initial training to prepare you for your role, along with continuous guidance from our national team. You’ll have access to practical tools, resources, and online systems that simplify your daily tasks and help you succeed from day one.
Local Coordinators must be at least 25 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and pass a criminal background check. Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and a genuine interest in cultural exchange are essential. Prior experience working with students, families, or community programs is helpful but not required.
The Local Coordinator role is flexible and part-time. Weekly hours vary depending on the number of students and host families assigned, as well as the time of year, with increased activity during placement and orientation periods.
Local Coordinators work independently within their communities while being supported by a regional team and ICES staff. Regular communication, guidance, and resources are provided to ensure consistency and success in the role.
Yes. ICES provides comprehensive initial training, as well as ongoing support and resources throughout your time as a Local Coordinator. Training covers program guidelines, compliance requirements, student support, and best practices.
Compensation is performance-based and varies according to the number of students placed and supported. Local Coordinators are compensated per student, with payments issued according to program guidelines.
